Diamond Scout
For youth fastpitch and baseball coaches

Know the batter.
Scout the other team's hitters.

Diamond Scout remembers where opposing hitters put the ball. Between batters, flip to the chart, set your defense with a reason, and get back to the game. One simple phone app that does the scouting job and nothing else.

Now in closed testing. Join the tester group to get access and try the full app in real games.

Built for the glanceThe chart is one flip away between batters, not buried in a spreadsheet.

How it works

Record it. Flip the chart. Set the defense.

Tracking hitters is a full job on its own. Scout keeps that job fast enough to do live, and simple enough that a second coach or a parent helping out can run it.

1

Record it live

Tap or swipe what each batter did, right as the at-bat ends. Quick scoring keeps up with the game, so the chart is never an inning behind.

2

Flip the chart

Before the next batter comes to the plate, her spray chart is right there. Where she hit it last time, and the time before that.

3

Set the defense

Shade toward the pull side, play in, play deep, or hold honest, with a reason you can point to. With Play-by-Play, set and share the shift from the same screen.

Built for that moment

The chart flipping moment is between batters, before a batter comes to the plate, when you need to know where she hit it last time. Scout is designed for exactly that glance, not for digging through a spreadsheet mid inning.

  • ✓
Fast at-bat scoringQuick mode is tap and swipe scoring per at-bat. Fast enough to keep up live, simple enough for a parent helping out.
  • ✓
Spray charts you can read at a glanceIn Quick, the spray chart covers the current game. In Play-by-Play, charts build across games so pull hitters and opposite field hitters stand out.
  • ✓
Batter history, right when you need itSee prior at-bats against your team before the next batter steps in, not after the game when it is too late to use.
  • ✓
Positioning helpUse what you have charted to set shifts and share them. Scout is a defensive scouting app, not a full scorebook, and it stays good at that one job.

Quick: fast tap and swipe scoring for each at-bat, focused on this game. Play-by-Play: pitch by pitch detail, history across games, and positioning tools. Swipe gestures, haptics, and export and import are available in both ways.

Game flow

How a half inning runs

Before the inning

Check the lineup

Scout shows who is coming up and what they did earlier today, or earlier this season in Play-by-Play.

Between batters

Flip the chart

One glance at the spray. Shade left, play in, play deep. Decide before she steps in, not during the at-bat.

During the at-bat

Record the result

Tap what happened as each at-bat ends. The scoring is quick enough to keep up live, so the chart is current when the next batter comes up.

After the game

Review what held up

Which hitters hurt you, where they put the ball, and which batters you need a better plan for next time you see them.

Two ways to score

Quick for speed.
Play-by-Play for depth.

Pick the way that fits the game in front of you. Some days you just need the result before the next batter steps in. Other days you want every pitch and the history behind it. Scout does both, without changing apps.

Quick

Score each at-bat and keep moving.

  • Fast tap and swipe scoring for each at-bat, without tracking every pitch
  • Focused on this game, so the chart builds batter by batter as today goes
  • Current game spray chart for every batter you face today, ready to flip to between batters
  • Simple enough for a second coach or a parent helping out to run live
Same in both ways: swipe gestures and haptic feedback while you score, plus export and import for your games. Your data stays on your device either way, so you can back it up or move it anytime.

Who built this

Built from the dugout bench

Scout was not designed in a boardroom for college programs. It was built for the fields where a coach is also keeping the book, watching the count, and trying to give a kid a better chance on the next batter.

“Former youth fastpitch softball coach, now a devoted parent. I built the tool I kept wishing I had on the bench.”
Jeff, maker of Diamond Scout

Questions coaches ask

Before you try it

What is the difference between Quick and Play-by-Play?

Quick is the fast way to score. You tap and swipe what each batter did as the at-bat ends, and you get the current game spray chart. Play-by-Play goes pitch by pitch, with full at-bat outcomes, history across games, per batter history, and positioning with the Shift picker and presets. Swipe gestures, haptics, and export and import are available in both ways.

Do I need an account or special hardware?

No. Scout runs on the phone you already carry, with no account to create and nothing extra to buy, charge, or hand out to your staff.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere by default. There is no account to create and no cloud dashboard. Your games stay on your device, and export and import are available in both Quick and Play-by-Play so you can back up or move your own data anytime.

Is this a scorekeeping app?

No. Scout is not trying to replace a full scorebook. It is a defensive scouting app focused on where hitters hit it and how you position for them. If you need deep scorekeeping, you probably already have a tool for that. Scout stays fast at the scouting job.
